Today, Lake Fellowship welcomes Christie Larson to talk with us about Western Communities Action Network, Inc (WeCAN). WeCAN serves individuals and families in need in Western Hennepin County. They are a community nonprofit that empowers and equips individuals and families to reach stability and self-sufficiency.
WeCAN was founded in 1989 to address the lack of social service programs for low-income families in Western Hennepin County. From emergency assistance to food support to helping our clients with job skills, WeCAN is in existence to help, support and inspire.
Christie is a graduate from St. Olaf college with a degree in social work and American University with her masters degree in public policy. She has worked at a variety of nonprofits in both Washington DC and the Twin Cities before joining WeCAN as their executive director in 2014. Christie enjoys working at a community nonprofit where she can see the direct impact of her work and lives in Maple Plain with her five year old son and two rescue pitbulls.
